Nappy Roots Books is, first and foremost, a bookstore. We carry new & used books for adults and children. Our focus is on books by, for and about African people throughout the diaspora. We also carry political books, and books about other communities of color, art, jewelry, gifts, skin care products, and a variety of other items to serve our community. We're located smack-dab in the middle of Oklahoma City's northeast community near the corner of Northeast 36th & Kelley. Many of our books are priced under $5.

That's just part of our mission and our story. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.  We serve as a meeting /gathering /synthesis site for people who want to gather, teach, learn, share in ways that advance the good of our community. Our walls display original works by local artists. Our meeting space hosts tutoring sessions for youth and adults, a chess club, book clubs, author talks, community meetings, cultural events, music happenings, poetry slams, workshops, game nights, discussion groups, and many other gatherings and activities. Contact us if you'd like to join in or add your activity to our calendar, or if you have an idea for an activity or project that would enhance our program or bring something valuable to our community. Our space is also available for private gatherings.
